Our planet is not doing well. We all know this. If we don’t change our habits we are going to be checking out soon. We are committed to sustainability. To shift things. The spiritual journey is one thing. We believe it is necessary to take self responsibility and act on it. As a business for us that means we take responsibility in the whole production process and do what we can to be part of a solution together with you. It IS possible.

Technology has advanced. Yes, it costs more but we do it because it is right. We didnt know this could be actually such a fun process, finding recycled materials that are even superior in quality. We watch every detail. The packaging, the materials, the way we move and produce. It means for us that we not only reduce and recycle but it also means to inspire others to join us in this shift of culture. As a business and as an individual. We hope to get you on board and do your part on this journey we are in together.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

Yes.  Your heard right. At MA:HI we solely use nylon that is made from reclaimed old garmentsplastic bottles and abandoned fishing nets. For all our yoga active we use a Italian-made sustainable techno-fabric made with econyl – a 100% regenerated polyamide fiber from post-consumer materials (OEKO-Tex Standard 100). Helping to save the oceans, our most precious eco system on this planet, is a passion very close to our hearts.

Single-use plastics are one of the biggest environmental man-made problems we face today.

At MA:HI we commit to being a 100% plastic free company. We do not use any plastic whatsoever in any of our packaging. Our yoga mats are delivered in brown recycled carton boxes, our malas and jewelry comes in beautiful artisan, hand made boxes from recycled paper, wrapped in cassava bags while our active wear is delivered in small fabric bags.

From the roughly 300 million tons of plastic that humanity produces each year half of it is disposable! That is an incredible amount of plastic that is used only one time and then thrown away. A straw, a take away cup or a garment wrapped in plastic. Even worse: petroleum based plastic is not biodegradable and is very difficult to recycle. Only 10% of the world-wide plastic is recycled, the rest ends up on land fills or in the ocean, where it releases toxic chemicals which makes their way into our food and water supply, killing animals, destroying eco systems and eventually making us humans sick.

Our Yoga mats are made from 100% natural rubber with a printed micro fiber top layer using eco water based inks. Our mats are of the highest quality materials to guarantee a long lasting mat. In the end we want you to be able to use your mat as long as possible instead of having to buy a new mat every year.

Recycling can be sexy 🙂 For sure it is one of the most effective ways to save the environment while producing new consumer products.

Man-made fibers such as nylon or polyester take 2 centuries to decompose. Unwanted garments from man-made fibers and old yoga mats end up on land fills or get burned. Having worked in the fashion industry for years ourselves we saw the impact that these materials can have on the environment.

We want to become a part of the solution – together with you!

“If it can’t be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled, or composted, then it should be restricted, designed or removed from production.” – Pete Seeger
